As a young professional, I had to navigate the dot-com bubble, the subsequent crash, and the volatile bear market that resulted. I started my first IT consulting job in early 1999 after earning my Master’s degree — and was laid off just before the holidays in 2000. Even though I quickly found another consulting job, I was laid off again 6 months later.

My competition had more experience than me, which meant I had to be smarter, faster, and more strategic if I wanted to pull ahead in the highly competitive tech industry.

For the next 19 years, I worked deep in the IT trenches wearing many hats: product manager, project manager, business analyst, tester, and developer. I started at the bottom and worked my way up to success, which means I’ve been in your shoes.

Along the way, I learned how to build relationships, seek roles that gave me the knowledge and experience I needed to increase my worth (and get paid accordingly for it), and problem-solve at a high level for a more effective team. Now, I apply everything I’ve learned to help professionals at all levels bolster their own careers — all while creating a balance that allows them to live (and enjoy!) both their life and work.
